A Guide to Identifying Hidden Leaks in Sellersville, PA

A hidden water leak can be a silent destroyer of your Sellersville, PA home. Here are some key signs that the experts at JLK Plumbing recommend you watch for.

  • An Unexplained High Water Bill: This is often the first and most obvious sign of a hidden leak. If your water usage habits haven't changed but your bill has spiked, a leak is a likely culprit.
  • Your Water Meter is Always Running: A simple way to check for a leak is to use your water meter. Turn off all water-using appliances in your home, then look at the meter. If the dial or leak indicator is still moving, you have a leak somewhere in your system.
  • The Sound of Running Water: If you can hear water running when no faucets, toilets, or appliances are on, it's a clear sign of a leak within your walls or under your slab.
  • Warm Spots on the Floor: If you have a concrete slab foundation, a warm spot on the floor can indicate a hidden hot water line leak underneath.
  • Visible Signs of Damage: Look for unexplained water stains on ceilings or walls, peeling paint, warped flooring, or the presence of musty odors and mold growth. These are all signs of a persistent moisture problem in your Sellersville, PA home.
  • Reduced Water Pressure: A significant leak in your main supply line can sometimes cause a noticeable drop in water pressure throughout your home.If you notice any of these signs, don't wait. A hidden leak will only get worse. Sellersville, PA Insights: Population,
Zip Codes, Influence, and Service Areas

Sellersville was founded in the early 18th century. It was centered on a major road known as Bethlehem Pike that connected Philadelphia to Bethlehem and the rest of what was then far Western Pennsylvania. The town was very small and was called Sellers Tavern. Its most notable feature was a large inn. The present Washington House in Sellersville, however, was not Sellers Tavern. The town grew slowly over the years until the Industrial Revolution. In the 1860s the North Pennsylvania Railroad was built, running parallel to Bethlehem Pike: this stimulated the growth of light textile industries and brought a wave of population growth. The East Branch of the Perkiomen Creek runs through the town which connects it to an adjacent town of Perkasie. This creek was dammed in the early 20th century creating a small body of water known as Lake Lenape. Along the length of the lake a park was built on Perkasie and Sellersville lands. In the 1920s and 1930s this park housed a carousel, a roller coaster and several other amusements. The railroad brought hundreds of people from Philadelphia in the summer time, and it became a well known vacation spot for blue collar city workers.
